St. Bonaventure head coach Anthony Solomon and his staff reeled in three big fish for the class of 2007.
The Bonnies scored a big one in Malcolm Eleby, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound point guard from Franklin Learning Center High School in Philadelphia. The lefty is an instant impact player and has put together a strong résumé in the City of Brotherly love, averaging 22 points a game as a junior. The big guard will have two good options in his four years in the Atlantic 10 at his disposal in the other two commitments from last week.
DaQuan Cook, a 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward from the Miller School in Charlottesville, Va., also picked St. Bonaventure. The New Jersey native gives Solomon a big body that can face up and grind it down low.
Matt Morgan, a 6-foot-8 skilled forward, will line up across Cook down low. After spending a season at Millersburg Military Institution in Kentucky last season, Morgan is now attending St. Thomas More in Connecticut.
Hampton adds a big body
Former Clemson assistant Kevin Nickleberry and his staff are getting it done at Hampton in their first year at the MEAC school. The Pirates have struck again, adding Milade Lola-Charles, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center from Laurel (Md.) High School. Lola-Charles is an intriguing big man who is scratching the surface on what kind of player he can become.
Colonials add key prospect
Quietly, Miles Beatty committed to George Washington. The New Jersey guard was a hot target for a couple of Big East schools but the St. Anthony High School floor general saw an opportunity to play right away for GWU.
South Alabama raids Thomasville, GA…again
After landing three-star wing Jamar Moore after the summer period, South Alabama went back to Thomasville Central High School in south Georgia for another prospect. Guard LaDarius Hall pledged to USA and will suit up with Moore again next season as college freshmen. The duo will be dangerous on the wings. Hall is known for his quick trigger shot from deep.
