Castine Talks About His Decision

Kory Castine, a 6-8, 233 pound power forward from Shaw H.S. in Marrero, La., told us tonight he committed to Tulane. "It was one of the most educated schools in the state," Castine said. "Being familiar with the coaching staff and knowing them since my sophomore year helped.
"I am friendly with them. It's a matter of confidence in the program. I feel they will be a contender in the next four years. They have a team that will go forward and be progressive next four years. I like the way they play. I like the way the academics is set up. And it's close to home."

Castine will sign a letter of intent next week during the Fall signing period.
Castine previously had taken official visits to Alabama-Birmingham on September 13th and Tulane on October 12th. Castine had been offered scholarships by Tulane, Buffalo, Nicholls State, Stetson and UT-San Antonio. He had considered Western Kentucky for a visit too.
"The thing I am is very versatile," Castine said. "I think I can face up and play the post. I am a good interior passer and a good passer. I have to work on my quickness."
