Five-star Cassius Stanley taking recruiting process in stride

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - It's only been six games back for junior five-star Cassius Stanley, but he's already averaging 19 points and five assists per game. The shooting guard out of Southern California has put his recruiting in the back seat to his high school season and says he'll focus more on the process in the summer.

"Right now I'm just working towards getting better and getting my teammates better. We have a lot of new guys on the team, including myself, so we're just working on our team chemistry and finishing out the season strong," Stanley said.

As far as the recruiting process goes, there aren't 50-plus schools vying for Stanley's attention, which is unusual given is No. 22 ranking. He also hasn't had a lot of new schools enter the mix since the summer.

"I guess it's kind of surprising that more schools haven't offered but I'm very happy with the schools that are recruiting me right now," Stanley told Rivals.com.

He holds offers from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Kansas, Texas, Maryland and a few others.

"Nothing's really changed on the recruiting end since the fall," he said. "The same schools are still talking to me and I haven't really had any time to take any visits. ...

"Texas was at a practice this year. Coach (Shaka) Smart came by and it's nice to see these schools outside of the West Coast make the trip to check in on me."

RIVALS' REACTION

It's hard not to give the slight recruiting edge to the two L.A. teams, UCLA and USC. Stanley has been on both campuses multiple times and coaches from both teams have been out to see him for practices and games this season.

There's also the question of reclassifying and whether he'll forgo his senior season and sign with a school early. Stanley will be 19 in August so it could be a possibility. Either way, it doesn't look like there will be any movement or decision made prior to the summer.
