Carvalho Still Looking For A School

Adrian Carvalho, a slippery 6'0'' 175 pound combo guard from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York, is a member of the class of 2003 who will showcase his skills at this weekend's Charlie Weber Tournament in Washington, D.C., with the hopes of snaring a Division I scholarship.
Carvalho, who will play with Doc Nicelli's Madison Broncos this weekend, will be checked out by Stony Brook. The America East program recently got in touch with Adrian. Lehigh had also been interested before getting a commitment from another guard and dropping out. Others who had expressed varying degrees of interest included Rider, St. Francis (PA), and Manhattan, as well as a number of Division II programs -- of these, Adelphi is the most serious.

Carvalho is a combo who is a scorer, pure and simple. He strokes the three with regularity, wriggles through traffic for buckets, and has some bounce. The tough-minded guard can score from the perimeter under duress. Adrian's decision-making is one aspect of his game that needs work at times.
Carvalho played last summer with the Westchester Hawks. The Hawks did not travel extensively, however, and coming from an oft-overlooked suburb of New York City, Westchester County, Adrian did not get a ton of exposure during the high school season. Carvalho averaged 21 points per game for coach George Masters at Fox Lane this past season, playing alongside big man Taj Finger, a member of the class of 2004 whose stock is on the rise. One of Carvalho's former rivals in his high school league was current Providence point guard Donnie McGrath, formerly of Kennedy High School in Katonah, New York.
Carvalho made a name for himself playing at the Five-Star Camp last summer.
Adrian competed at the Providence Jam Fest two weeks ago with the Bronx-based Dyckman AAU team.
Adrian is fully qualified, and has scored 950 on the SAT.
