Carvalho Set For Fall Visit

Adrian Carvalho, a 6-1, 175 pound point guard from Bedford, NY, said that St. Francis (PA) wants him to take an official visit with the NEC school this fall. "I'm also hearing from schools such as Rider, Seton Hall and Robert Morris," he added.
Carvalho, who averaged 20.1 points for Fox Lane High this past season, said he'll be moving to the point guard for his final prep campaign after playing on the wing as a junior. He elevates well on his jumper and is a solid ballhandler who is elusive on trips to the rack.

Carvalho plays with the Willie Howie All Stars and competed in both the IS8 summer league in Queens and the UDC summer league in the Bronx. He also plays with the Westchester Hawks.
At this point, he is fully qualified. "I got a 940 on the SAT but I want to take it again and get that score above a thousand," he said.
Carvalho was named the MOP at the Five Star Pitt II Basketball Camp at Robert Morris in early July. This was his third year at the camp. He made the all-star game the previous year. Carvalho also is scheduled for the Five Star Honesdale (PA) camp later this month.
Asked what impressed him about the teaching camp, "The staff works just as hard as we did," he said. "It's the best camp there is." In fact Five Star pretty much has the teaching game to itself. Howard Garfinkel, co-founder of the camp, recently said, "I'm not surprised (there hasn't been competition); but I am disappointed."
Carvalho said he's been using the summer season to add moves to his game. "I also have been working to increase my strength," he said.
When it's time for making a college choice, he said that, "Basketball-wise, I'll be looking at the other players the school is recruiting and what my chances will be to get playing time. As far as academics goes, the teacher-student ratio and size of the classes will be important to me."
