Here is a transcript of that interview.
Rivals Hoops: Who did it come down to in the end?
Cartier Martin: It was down to Oklahoma State and Kansas State.
RH: So had you knocked Kentucky and Texas out of the picture.
CM: I hadn't quite knocked Kentucky out, but it was just that those were my top two, Oklahoma State and K-State. Texas wasn't out of the picture either, I just felt that Kansas State was the better place for me.
RH: Can you elaborate on that, why you picked K-State over some of the other schools?
CM: They all had good programs, I just felt something a little different from Kansas State. I would have liked to attend all of the schools, but I can't.
RH: Where does Kansas State see you fitting in?
CM: I am going to play the two or three. But if I have to go to the four, it's not going to do anything but help my game my improve. However they want to play me. I am probably going to play the two/three, but if I have to do a little post work, I'm fine with that.
RH: You took a bunch of official visits this fall?
CM: Yeah, I went to Texas, Oklahoma State and Kentucky. I visited Kansas State back in the spring.
RH: What is it about your game that Kansas State really likes?
CM: I have the possibility of coming in at the three and having a major impact on the team. I feel like I can come in and do that. If they just give me the opportunity to come in and show what I can do.
RH: What are some of the things you feel you need to work on before you get to college?
CM: Well I just need to hit the weights a little bit more. I know that when you get to college, it's not high school players. I need to get in the weight room and improve on my muscle. Otherwise, I will be fine once I get there.
RH: Any individual skills that you would like to sharpen up?
CM: Well, I just need to get my ball handling skills better and get my shot off quicker. Other than that, I am an all-around player.
RH: Are you going to sign next week?
CM: Yes sir, on the 13th.
RH: I know you were in summer school working on your grades. Are you still working on the test as well?
CM: I made a 900 on the SAT. So I am qualified. I just need to finish up strong in the classroom and get my GPA a little higher.
