Cardinal score in-state Rivals150 big man

Go ahead and chalk up early commitment No. 2 from the class of 2012 for head coach Johnny Dawkins and his staff at Stanford.
Wednesday afternoon, big man Grant Verhoeven made the call for the Cardinal after visiting Palo Alto officially over the weekend.

A 6-foot-8 power forward from Visalia (Calif.) Central Christian, Verhoeven picked Stanford over the other finalists that he had taken visits to, Cal and St. Mary's.
Playing in the summer for Organized Chaos, Verhoeven proved to be one of the most active and intense players scouted by Rivals.com.
In addition to playing with a high level of energy, Verhoeven exhibited toughness, skill around the bucket and the ability to run the floor or step out to hit 17-foot jump shots in pick-and-roll situations.
Ranked No. 132 nationally in the 2012 Rivals150, the three-star prospect joins a recruiting class that already includes three-star shooting guard Christian Sanders. The Cardinal staff still has at least one available scholarship for 2012.
