Augusta, Ga. natives Chris Reynolds and P.J. Meyers verbally committed to the Atlantic Sun school after making a visit to the North Carolina school.
Reynolds, an athletic 6-foot-4 wing from Glenn Hills High School in Augusta, Ga., and Meyers, a 5-foot-6 point guard from T.W. Josey High School, both shined for the Augusta Cavs on the grassroots circuit.
Dameon Key, head coach of the Augusta Cavs, said the Fighting Camels are landing an underrated duo.
"Chris's level of play and upside is great. I think he'll be one of those kids that blossoms in college and turns into a really good player," Key said. "I really thought he could have ended up at high level mid-major. He didn't want to play the waiting game. He felt comfortable with the coaching staff and feels like he can get a starting position as a freshman. The kid can really play. He's so athletic and he's shooting the ball a lot better and on the ball defense. Chris really stepped up last year. He felt like he wanted to go somewhere where he felt like he was wanted and they were consistent."
Reynolds also had interest from Charleston Southern, Toledo, UNC-Ashville, Mercer, Georgia Southern and Winthrop. Meyers had interest from Youngstown State and St. Bonaventure, Key said.
"I think P.J. is going to surprise a lot of people. People were scared to pull the trigger because of his size we played in some big time tournaments and handled himself really well," Key said.
"Everyone that watched him play turned into a believer. He elevates really high on his jump shot and is pretty athletic. I think P.J. is going to have a great career at Campbell."
