Callahan will ride wave to Conference USA

After a year at New Hampton Prep, Georgia combo guard Jordan Callahan is headed to a Conference USA program. The 5-foot-11 post-grad guard is headed to Tulane.
Callahan visited Tulane earlier in the summer and he said he liked the situation at the school and within the basketball program.

"When I went down there to New Orleans, I kind of liked it. I felt comfortable down there," he said. "They play in Conference USA and that is a pretty good conference. I can come in and play right away next year. That was one of the factors for me."
Tulane jumped on board during the summer and actively recruited Callahan during the evaluation period.
"They were really the first college to recruit me in this recruiting period. They were there from almost the beginning of July," Callahan said. "I developed a pretty good relationship with coach [Dick] Bender and coach [Dave] Dickerson. I really like them. I think that it is going to be a good fit for me."
Callahan, who played and succeeded at Blessed Trinity in Roswell, Georgia last year, will spend a year at New Hampton this season. He is counted in the 2009 recruiting class for the Green Wave.
Callahan said he also strongly considered Bucknell. The appeal of playing in Conference USA was a major selling point, he said.
"It's very exciting," Callahan said. "Any time you play against some of the best guards in the country like they have at Memphis and the guys that they have at UAB, Houston and Marshall, you have to like that. I'm looking forward to it."
