Jarrod Boswell, the 7-1, 260 pound center from El Capitain High School in Lakeside, CA, gave a verbal commitment to Wyoming last night according to his dad, Jeff.
After some prep events in the east this year, Boswell decided that he wanted to go to a college on the west coast. Other western schools that were recruiting him included Colorado State, Oregon, California, Southern Cal, San Diego State and Pepperdine.
Boswell averaged 20.5 points, 12.3 rebounds and 5.2 blocks per game as a junior. He enters his senior campaign as the sixth all-time shot blocker in the county and he broke Bill Walton's record last season with 141 blocks. Boswell shot 63.7 percent from the floor and 61.3 from the charity stripe.
Boswell maintains a 2.5 GPA. He got a 940 on the SAT and will also take the ACT. This summer, he's worked on his post game and is scheduled for Pete Newell's Big Man Camp which starts next Monday in Hawaii.
