Cali SF has Priorities in Order

In an age when the term student-athlete is often misapplied, Kyle Brucculeri of Los Alamitos, Calif. not only excels on the basketball court, but in the classroom as well.
We spoke to the 6-foot-6 inch, 170-pound small forward recently about his recruiting and learned that Ivy League and other schools with high academic standards are all over him.

Brucculeri is a pure shooter with deep range. Recently, he performed well at the Rumble in the Bay Tournament and Pangos All-American Camp.
His list includes Yale, Stanford, Rice, Penn, Brown, Santa Clara, San Diego, Columbia, Portland, Colgate, Cal Poly, and Pacific. He says Stanford could be considered a slight favorite. Kyle has made unofficial visits to San Diego, Santa Clara, and Stanford.
I was impressed with the maturity of this young man and the practical approach he takes to selecting a school.
“I want to go to a school that will give me a life after basketball,” Kyle said. “A good education is important to me.”
Brucculeri indicated that being close to home was not an important factor in his decision but getting a scholarship was. Since Ivy League schools do not offer athletic scholarships, they would not be his first choice.
Brucculeri will compete in the Big Time, Pangos Summer Shootout, and Las Vegas Summer Classic tournaments with the Branch West Basketball Academy club team next month. He also intends to participate in the Full-Court Press All-West Camp.
Brucculeri is an exemplary student who carries a 3.7 GPA and scored 1230 on the SAT.
