Caldwell commanding attention

As a sophomore point guard, Tyrone Caldwell led Clarksville (Tenn.) High School to within one game of a state tournament birth. Local mid-majors and a variety of high-major schools are already tracking him.
"I'm not thinking about recruiting right now, but I'm hearing from Tennessee, Alabama and Gonzaga have called my coach, Virginia, Florida State, Mississippi State and Memphis," said Caldwell, who is 6-foot, 180-pounds. "I've taken unofficial visits to Tennessee and Mississippi State, but I don't have anything planned for this spring."

A point guard who can both score and create for his teammates, Caldwell averaged 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He shot over 50 percent from the field while shooting 33 percent from three. From the free throw line, he shot 73 percent.
Caldwell is also getting serious attention from the mid-major schools in the area.
"Tyrone is a top target for Belmont," said Clarksville assistant coach Charles Clark. "Austin Peay and UT-Martin also want him. (Head coach Kermit) Davis from MTSU was at his sub-state game, and an assistant from TSU was there also."
This spring and summer, Caldwell will run the show for the 16-under Midstate Ballerz AAU club while he concentrates on improving a couple aspects of his game.
"I am working on taking people with my left hand," said Caldwell. "I also want to get more confidence in taking the outside shot."
Tyrone Caldwell scouting report:
A physical point guard who is poised and strong with the ball, Caldwell excels at getting into the lane and has the body control to finish. Possessing a well rounded game, he also defends and rebounds well. Although he shoots it well enough from three to keep the defense honest, his outside shooting is an area that could improve.
