Cal Gets Commitment from Marquise Kately

Lorenzo Harris of NorCalHoops.com reported yesterday that Marquise Kately, a 6-5, 200 pound small forward from Archbishop Riordan H.S. in San Francisco, CA, committed to California shortly after an unofficial visit to the Berkley school.
Harris reports Kately choose the Pac-10 school over Arizona and North Carolina. He also considered Southern California, Arizona State, UCLA, UNLV, Fresno State and Pepperdine.

Kately averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block per game as a junior at Riordan.
Kately enhanced his reputation on the national scene with Calvin Andrews' Oakland Slam N Jam program at a pair of July events -- the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas and the SNJ/EBO sponsored Elite 8x2 Tournament in Berkeley.
Harris reports that Kately will not sign a National Letter of Intent until he achieves fully qualified status. He told Russ Blake this summer that he had a 2.8 cumulative GPA.
