Cal big man is wide open

Craig Austin is a promising big man who has garnered attention from an impressive list of schools. The 6-foot-9, 200-pound rising senior from Carlsbad, Cal., is hearing from the Pac-10, Big 12, WCC, and Mountain West.
Austin’s list of schools include Washington, Oregon, Texas Tech, San Diego, Utah, USC, Santa Clara, Oklahoma St., and New Mexico, among others. While he says he has no favorites and is wide open right now, he prefers playing on the West Coast or Mid-West and Texas Tech was also high on the list.

When asked what he was looking for in a school, Austin said, “schools that have a history of developing big men.” Craig’s father, Steve Austin, says he expects his son to make a decision before the season starts.
Austin expects to begin visiting schools in the Fall and while he has yet to schedule any, Texas Tech will definitely get a visit, according to his father.
Austin has a busy summer schedule which includes an invitation to the ABCD Camp. He will also participate in the Big Time, Great Summer Shootout, and Best of the Summer tournaments with the High Five America club team.
Steve says his son has a 3.0 GPA and took the SAT on June 7.
