CA Guard Signed With UTEP

Texas-El Paso head coach Jason Rabedeaux announced last week that shooting guard Giovanni St. Amant from Bellflower, CA, signed a national letter of intent with the Western Athletic Conference school.
The 6-3, 185-pound St. Amant averaged 24.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a senior at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, California. He was named the Area Player of the Year and was chosen one of the top 10 players in Southern California by The Los Angeles Times. He shot 56.5 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from three-point range and 75.4 percent from the line in helping the Braves to a 24-7 record.

A four-year starter, St. Amant was also chosen the 2002 Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team Player of the Year.
St. Amant joins John Tofi, a 6-7 power forward from San Francisco's Burton High School as members of Rabedeaux' class of 2002.
