Byron Sanders Still On Radar Screen For UNC

Over the next 24-48 hours it is expected that 7-1 center Damion Grant will make his commitment official to North Carolina over Seton Hall. Many fans have now wondered whether the Heels will continue to pursue Byron Sanders, another forward still available in the class of 2002.
The answer is yes. With Neil Fingleton no longer part of the program, this opened the door for a class of five in 2002 for the Tar Heels. Sanders is the next target.

Sanders, a 6-9, 215 pound power forward from Harrison Central H.S. in Gulfport, Miss., told us he hopes to visit North Carolina this weekend. Sanders also told us that he plans on visiting Tulane and is also interested in Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Providence.
Sanders has said that if he likes what he sees at North Carolina, then he might make a decision in his recruiting process. "I have been talking to them since the Fall," Sanders said. "I just want to see what the campus looks like."
Sanders took an official visit to McNeese State (Nov. 9-11) in the Fall. Sanders was also contacted this past fall by South Alabama, North Carolina, Jacksonville State and Southeast Louisiana.
