Byrnes: Coach Cal Will Like Wade

Clyde Wade, a 6-0 combo guard from The Winchendon School in Massachusetts, will fit in nicely at Memphis next year, according to his head coach Mike Byrnes.
"Clyde really improved as a point guard for us," Byrnes said. "I know he will be great for Coach Calipari. Coach Cal will love him. Clyde ran the offense well and is a very athletic guard."

Wade took an unofficial visit there in the middle of March. "He loved it," Byrnes said. "I played for Coach Cal back in the late 1980's. So I know the type of player he likes and Clyde is that type of player."
Wade, an athletic point who can shoot the jumper, had many phone calls right around the time Wade was taking the Memphis visit. "North Carolina State, Texas A&M, Houston all called abut him," Byrnes said. "But it was too late."
"He is a lot like John Linehan," Winchendon head coach Mike Byrnes previously told us. "He does the same type of things. He is athletic. He gets in your face. He is a great defender. He can run the team. He did everything I asked him to do."
Wade happens to be a very good student. He possesses a 3.8 GPA.
