Buzz From Super Showcase

Two stories that were buzzing around the Super Showcase last night were that Leon Powe (right) had committed to California and that Kendrick Perkins could have a decision by next week.
Powe, who injured his knee during his high school season and was unable to compete at the ADIDAS camp in early July at FDU, is a warrior inside and one of our favorite players for his willingness to mix it up in the paint.

No one in the recruiting world seemed surprise Powe gave a verbal commitment to California.
Perkins situation is a little bit different. There has been NBA talk with Perkins for the past couple of years. But he probably needs some polishing on the college level before he tries to take the NBA route.
Sources tell us that Perkins is likely to decide between Memphis, North Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Miami.
He has also mentioned Michigan, Georgia Tech, Kansas, and Kentucky in our last interview.
Kendrick said he has a 2.7 GPA and will take the SAT in the fall. He averaged 24 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks last year for the 32-3 state runner-up team.
Perkins averaged 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.9 blocks in the eight games at ABCD hitting 57 percent of his shots. In the senior all-star game he had seven points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and one blocked shot.
