One of the top centers in the class of 2004 will not be a Bulldog after all. 6-foot-10, 240-pound Jackie Butler brought signed scholarship papers to the Tennessee Vols on his official visit to Knoxville this weekend according to Rob Lewis of Volquest.com.
The McComb, Mississippi big man originally committed to Mississippi State last year as a high school senior. Butler failed to qualify academically and enrolled at the Lauringburg Institute at the beginning of this year. His stay there was short lived, and he is now planning on transferring to Massanutten Military Academy in Woodstock, Virginia.
Massanutten head coach Bruce Kreutzer has very strong ties to Tennessee head coach Buzz Peterson.
Butler was ranked the No. 6 center and No. 56 player in the Rivals100 ranking for the class of 2003.
