Butler Ready For Cincy

Jamar Butler, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound point guard from Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio has given a commitment to the Cincinnati Bearcats. While he still has another year of high school to complete, he cannot wait to start playing big-time basketball.
Butler will spend the summer traveling with his Cleveland Basketball Club AAU teammates.

“Yes, I’m definitely committed to Coach Bob Huggins and Cincinnati,” Butler said. “I can’t wait for that opportunity to come.”
Butler will spend some of the summer traveling with the Cleveland Basketball Club, but he will also have the opportunity to attend some events on an individual basis.
“I’ll be attending the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, the ABCD Camp, the NBA Players Association Camp and the USA Developmental Festival,” he said. “I think those are all of the major events my team and I will be attending.”
Until Butler becomes an official member of Cincinnati basketball, he will use the time to improve his game and prepare himself for the collegiate level.
“I will be playing the point guard position at Cincinnati,” he said. “I have the ability to score or I can get my teammates involved. I have always enjoyed getting others involved because that is what a point guard is supposed to do.
“I plan on having an immediate impact when I arrive on campus,” he added. “I hope to arrive at Cincinnati and start working for a starting position, but I’ll just take it one year at a time.”
Butler has already started thinking about the NBA and made it clear that playing at the next level is a dream of his.
If the time is right and he is ready, he will leave the Bearcats and pursue that dream.
