Burt and schools waiting on test score

Several high-major schools are involved with three-star 2005 prospect Darius Burt, but do not expect any scholarship offers for the 6-foot-5, 215-pound combo forward until he achieves a qualifying score on the ACT. Burt, who plays for Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Ala., is presently waiting for the score from his latest attempt while averaging a double-double on the court.
"I'm interested in Ole Miss, Auburn, Florida, UAB, Cincinnati and Miami," said Burt. "As of now nobody has offered. I think they are waiting on my test score. Ole Miss and UAB have been to see me play this year."

Averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game, Burt recently had a standout performance where he scored 28 points against Auburn signee Joey Cameron.
The athletic Burt would love to play in a program that would utilize his athleticism. He also knows that as a 6-foot-5 forward, he needs to further develop his perimeter game.
"I want to go to a school that presses and runs," he said. "I think in an up tempo style I can use my athletic ability more.
"I do need to continue working on my ball handling, so I can take my game farther out."
While being a so called "tweener" is a liability in some people's eyes, Burt's former high school and AAU coach Norm Williams sees Burt's combo capabilities as an asset.
"Darius is a combo forward who is very explosive," said Coach Williams. "He's quicker than most fours and too strong to guard for most threes. He is very long and can guard either the three or the four.
"He does need to work on his ball handling and be more consistent on his outside shot. He can hit the 15-footer but needs to take it outside of 15."
