Burney looking at four

Now that things did not work out between Miami and three-star prospect Jerome Burney, Jr., the 6-foot-9, 209-pound power forward from Westlake High School in East Point, Ga., is exploring his options with four other school.
"My top four are Georgia Tech, Maryland, Virginia and UAB," said Burney. "All but Georgia Tech have offered. They are out of scholarships, but something might work out."

After committing to Miami before the July evaluation period, Burney did not meet the expectations of the Miami coaching staff. When asked to prep for a year to gain more experience and join the Hurricanes as a 2007 prospect, Burney declined.
Burney is now in the process of working out visitation dates.
"I'll visit Maryland sometime in October with Landon Milbourne, probably during Midnight Madness," he said. "I'm also planning on visiting UAB. I'm working on scheduling that one right now. I will just take visits until I find the right school."
Burney, who has a 3.5 GPA and a score of 970 on the SAT, averaged 14 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks per game as a junior.
