Burney back to ACC

Landon Milbourne has his first assist as a college player. The future Maryland forward accompanied friend and AAU teammate Jerome Burney, Jr. on an official visit this weekend and that relationship helped the 6-foot-9 forward from Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake High School decide on the Terps.
Burney took an official visit with Milbourne this weekend to College Park and according to their AAU coach Norman Parker, the trip was a success for both players.

"I guess you can say it's Landon's first assist," Parker said. "I think that had a lot to do with Jerome's decision. He really fit in with the players and Landon had a chance to introduce him to everything and everyone up there."
Burney was a one-time Miami commitment but the Hurricanes backed out of the pledge after the summer. When they did, Maryland stepped right in, Parker said.
"When Miami backed off, they were one of the first schools to call me and his high school coach (Darren) Rogers," Parker said. "They expressed interest in him and went from there."
The Terps add a key interior player to go alongside Milbourne and point guard Eric Hayes, a pair of four-star prospects in the class of 2006. Parker, who coached Burney with the Georgia Stars, believes Gary Williams and his staff landed a good one.
"He's got the size and has the academics that make him a special player," Parker said. "He's a fine young man and has a chance to develop into a great ACC player. They told me they want him to play the four spot because he's just so long and athletic.
