Brown commits to K-State
Before ever taking a visit, combo guard Barry Brown knew Kansas State was where he wanted to be. Wednesday night, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Gibbs senior made the call to become a Wildcat, then announced his commitment on Twitter.

"Ultimately I felt like Kansas State is where I wanted to be," Brown said. "I have a great relationship with the coaching staff, they have a great program, good fan support. Plus I didn't tant wait too late and have something happen. I wanted to make sure I can get into the school I wanted to go to."
The three-star guard said the relationship he built with Kansas State assistant Chester Frazier was an important factor in his decision.
"Coach Frazier has been recruiting me for so long, I can't remember when he started," Brown said. "We have a great relationship. I can talk to him about anything really. He keeps it one hundred with me, he keeps it real. He was at a lot of my games during the live period. He's just a good guy."
Brown had scheduled official visits to his finalists and was set to begin taking them starting with Houston on Sept. 5. Now the only official visit he'll take will be to Manhattan, Kan., on Sept. 17 for his first in-person look at Kansas State.
"They sent me videos of the campus, so I've seen a little bit of it and I Googled it," Brown said. "It looks nice. Coach (Bruce) Weber and Coach Frazier said they want to get me on campus, show me around and make sure it's really what I want to do. I told them I know it's what I want to do. I wouldn't have made the decision if I weren't 100 percent sure."
E1T1 Elite AAU 17U coach Steve Reece said Kansas State is getting a relentless player at both ends of the court.
"He's a kid that I feel will make an immediate impact on the next level because he works his butt off and is a tough-minded person that has one goal," Reese said. "That is to be successful for whatever role is needed of him."
And what role do the Kansas State coaches have in mind for Brown?
"They want me to be a combo guard but I'll probably play more point than anything," Brown said.
Brown, who's known for his perimeter defense, averaged 20.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and a healthy 3.2 steals per game for his St. Petersburg Gibbs High School team that went 18-9 and made it to the Florida Class 5A Regional semifinals. For E1T1, he's a glue guy that brings energy and does whatever is necessary to help the team win games, particularly on defense.
He becomes the second member of the Wildcats' 2015 recruiting class, joining three-star power forward Eric Cobb, who is also from Florida.
