Brown Chooses Michigan State

Shannon Brown, RivalsHoops.com's Number 7 rising senior from Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL, told us tonight he selected Michigan State because of the love he received from the coaching staff. "The head coach (Tom Izzo) and the assistants were always at my games," Brown said. "They showed me throughout the process that they wanted me."
Brown told us he also seriously considered Duke. "They came in late though," Brown said. "They have a great program but so does Michigan State."

Brown is a guard who has skills in the distribution department as well as on the perimeter. He is a well balanced scorer. "I am going to try and work on everything," Brown said. "I want to be the best player I can be before I get to Michigan State."
Besides Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Cincinnati, and Louisville were considered, according to Brown. "It just feels right with Michigan State," Brown said. "They have a great team when I get there. I want to play for a team that has a chance to win it all too."
The 6-4, 185 pound combo guard from Maywood, IL, played at one time with the Illinois Warriors but he did not compete with that AAU program this July.
