Brewer Headed South

Despite a great deal of pressure to stay in state and play for the Tennessee Vols, combo forward Corey Brewer from Portland High School stuck with his commitment and signed a Letter-of-Intent with the Florida Gators. Brewer, the No. 3 small forward and No. 30 player in the Rivals150, was down to these two rivals before committing to the Gators this summer.
“There was a lot of pressure for me to go to Tennessee,” said Brewer. “But I like my decision. I think it will pay off in the long run. The schools were similar as far as coaches and everything, but I liked the guys and style of play better at Florida. I felt more comfortable there.”

Brewer is long, has a fine shooting touch, and has the ability to accelerate in a flash to make plays; but at 6-foot-7, 174-pounds, he must gain weight to be effective inside the arc in the SEC.
“I am working on getting bigger and gaining weight and getting my shot off quicker,” said Brewer.
