Braswell names a favorite

Chris Braswell, one of the top prospects in the class of 2008 will suit up for Coach Mike Jones and DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Md., this season. Although the 6-foot-8, 215-pound combo forward is only a sophomore, he does have a favorite school, and one of his teammates just recently committed to play there.
"I'm mainly hearing from Villanova, Maryland, Georgetown, Virginia Tech and Texas," said Braswell. "I like all of them, but mostly I like Georgetown. I like the environment there. Also, my mother wants me to stay close to home. I don't know for certain that I am going to go there or stay close to home, but Georgetown is who I like the most right now."

Braswell's teammate Austin Freeman, the No. 37 ranked prospect in the class of 2007, recently committed to the Hoyas.
"Yes, we talked about Georgetown before he made his commitment," said Braswell. "It's early for me, so I'm just relaxing and taking everything in."
Last month Braswell unofficially visited Maryland and had plans to unofficially visit Villanova, but no visits are in the works right now.
"I wanted to visit Villanova last month, but we had a really big practice that I didn't want to miss," he said. "I'll have plenty of time to visit the schools I need to visit."
Braswell was one of the top prospects at the Nike Hoop Jamboree last summer, earning an invitation to the Nike All American Camp. Braswell is a multidimensional player with the developing skills of a small forward. He can score in a variety of ways and passes the ball well. With his quick feet and nose for the ball, he comes away with hustle rebounds and loose balls. He does need to bulk up for the high major level.
