Brandon Sims Taking Trip

Brandon Sims, a 6-5, 190 pound red-shirt sophomore swingman/shooting guard from Johnson County C.C. in Overland Park, Kan., will take an official visit to Creighton from Apr. 19-21.
Creighton has offered Sims a scholarship, although the talented Birmingham, Ala., native will need summer school to graduate and move on to the D-I ranks.

If Sims is unable to graduate, he can return to Johnson County for his sophomore campaign in 2002-2003.
One of the better marksman in the Jayhawk Conference last year, Sims played an integral role in Johnson County's ascension to the 2001 NJCAA Division II title. In fact, he was named MVP of the Division II Tournament.
A back injury forced him to sit out the 2001-2002 season, and it had a severe impact on the Cavalier's fortunes.
"We really missed him bad this year," Jeffers said. "That was 17 points per game."
To be exact, Sims averaged 16.3 points per contest as a freshman and knocked down 80 three pointers.
In addition to Creighton, Kansas State and Detroit have also shown an interest in Sims should he return to junior college in the fall.
Because he was a partial qualifier out of high school, Sims will need to earn his associates degree before moving on to the Division I ranks.
We will keep you posted on his situation, so stay tuned.
