Brandenburg drawing attention

A 6-foot-10, 235-pound power forward, John Brandenburg of DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Mo., didn't even play his natural position last season. At the Kingwood Classic in April, however, the 2008 prospect caught the attention of some high-major coaching staffs.
After a season on the perimeter since he was playing with center Sean Kowal who signed with Colorado, Brandenburg has made a statement this spring around the basket with his mobility and aggressiveness around the basket.

"Kansas came into see me after the Kingwood," said Brandenburg. "Also, Wake Forest, Clemson, St. Louis, Illinois and Missouri have shown interest since the Kingwood."
Already with offers from Missouri State and Southern Illinois, Brandenburg does have a couple dream schools in the ACC.
"My dream schools are North Carolina and Duke," he said. "I really like the ACC."
Brandenburg, who averaged 11 points and 5 rebounds per game as a sophomore, is slightly overwhelmed by the attention his play this summer has drawn to him.
"Obviously, I'm looking for a good college team to play for, and I'm also looking for a nice campus," he said. "I'm new to this, and everything is happening so fast. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.
"Where I go has a lot to do with how much better I get. I feel I have a lot to work on."
