Brad Buckman, an outstanding 6-8, 215-pound forward from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, told us tonight that he had a great trip to North Carolina this past weekend. It was Buckman's second trip. This was an unofficial visit.
"It as pretty sweet," Buckman said. "People had told me it was going to be great to be at Midnight Madness and it was."
Buckman said he was impressed that over 10,000 people showed up for Midnight Madness. "In a way I was surprised, in a way I wasn't," Buckman said. "People told me about this weekend. And it was great."
Buckman said right now: "My heart is saying Texas. My mind is saying North Carolina," Buckman said.
Brad also stated if he had to chose a school -- "It would be North Carolina...but I need some more time."
Buckman said his parents are out of town this week and it's likely he will not have any decision until next week. Buckman said he still might get together one more time and speak to Texas head coach Rick Barnes before he decides.
"It's a tough decision," Buckman said. "I have an idea on where I want to go but I need some more time."
Buckman is ranked ninth by Alliance Sports in its 2002 basketball ratings. He is also a legitimate candidate for the McDonald's All American team.
