Bowers Unstoppable as St. Benedicts Tops Reynolds

TRENTON, N.J. -- After the hype of the LeBron James show ripped through the Sovereign Bank Arena, Artie Bowers (right) showed why he is one of the better scorers in the Class of 2003, dumping 20 points on R.J. Reynolds (N.C.) H.S. in St. Benedict's 69-55 victory over the Demons on Saturday night at the 2003 Prime Time Shootout.
Simply put, Reynolds had no one who could keep Bowers from getting in and around the lane and scoring. After a slow first quarter, Bowers scored 18 of his 20 points in the final three as the Gray Bees pulled away for the win.

Trailing 32-30 at the half, St. Benedict's rallied behind Bowers and junior shooting guard J.R. Smith (11 points), who combined to score 12 points in a fourth quarter surge that saw the Gray Bees open up a double digit lead.
St. Benedict's outscored Reynolds 26-13 in the third quarter to open up a 56-45 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Demons never seriously threatened in the fourth quarter.
Alex Galindo added nine points and Stanley Branch eight for the victorious Gtay Bees.
UNC signee Reyshawn Terry led the Demons with 11 points, as he and 2004 Tar Heel target J.R. Smith locked up with each other.
