Bowers Could Commit Soon

Will Bowers (right), a 6-11, 230 pound center from Archbishop Spalding H.S. in Severn, Md., is expected to give an oral commitment to Maryland sometime in August.
The Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com caught up with Bowers on Friday at the adidas Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas, and he said he's been offered scholarships by the three finalists on his list -- Maryland, Stanford and Notre Dame.

"I am really favoring Maryland right now, and I am going out there to visit when I get back from my family vacation," Bowers said. "If I have a good visit, I will probably be able to make my decision."
Bowers expects to make his unofficial visit to Maryland during the second or third week of August. After the Big Time Tournament, he planned on attending the U.S. International Hoops Summit in Ocala, Fla.
The Maryland coaching staff was a persistent presence at Bowers' games this week here in Las Vegas. According to Bowers, Terp Asst. Coach Jimmy Patsos attended all of his games with the Baltimore Select program, while Head Coach Gary Williams made it to two games.
"There's a combination of many things that are pushing me toward Maryland," Bowers explained. "The style of play, the coaching staff -- it's really close to my house, and it's a great academic school and has a great business school."
"It's probably what I am going to major in," Bowers continued. "All of those things put together, plus they are really good at developing big men."
Bowers averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, one assists and two blocks per game this past season at Spalding. An excellent student, he has already tallied a 1310 on the SAT.
Maryland is also involved with Massachusetts big man Hassan Fofana. Earlier this week at the Big Time Tournament, Fofana told us that he planned to cut his list down significantly in August.
We will keep you posted on both Bowers and Fofana in the weeks to come, so keep it here for the best coverage of recruiting on the internet.
