Botts wide-open

When the time comes for Ben Botts to make a decision about his future, he is going to have plenty of options. The 6-foot-0, 175-pound point guard from Muncie (IN) Central High School is receiving heavy interest from quite a few schools at this time. As it stands right now, Botts has received scholarship offers from three programs.
"Right now, Ball State, IPFW and Oakland are the schools that have offered scholarships," said Botts. "Eastern Michigan, Western Kentucky, Illinois and Western Michigan are some of the other schools recruiting me right now.

"Ball State, IPFW and Oakland are the schools that I have unofficially visited," he added. "I have actually been to Ball State three or four times. I really had a great time when I visited Ball State because I was able to practice with the team. I am wide-open right now, but I would say that Ball State has the advantage because it's close to home, which means my parents would be able to watch me play."
As it stands right now, Botts is in no hurry to make a decision about his future. In fact, Muncie Central High School is still in the mix for a State Championship.
"We have the regional tournament this weekend," said Botts. "We are one of just 16 teams remaining. If we win on Saturday morning, we play again on Saturday night. As far as my season goes, I am averaging 15-points, six assists and five rebounds per game.
"I have hit 90 percent of my free throws and 40 percent of my three-pointers," he added. "It has been a great year for my team and I, but I just hope that continues this weekend."
