Bonner Heads To Big East

Luke Bonner, a hard-working 6-foot-11, 235-pound power forward/center from Trinity High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, loved his visit to West Virginia so much this past weekend that he decided to make his permanent home on the college level.
Luke's dad confirmed the commitment. "We all had a chance to visit there," he said. "Luke wanted to see what it looked like and be sure he wanted to go there. And he liked meeting the players and coaches."

Bonner, who was hearing from a number of high major and mid-level Division I programs in July, chose West Virginia after also hearing seriously from Virginia Tech and Rhode Island. Ohio State showed some interest at one time during the recruiting process.
Bonner had previously taken an unofficial visit to Rhode Island. Luke, the younger brother of former Florida star Matt Bonner, competed well at the ABCD Camp. He also travelled on the AAU circuit with the Granite State Raiders coached by Frank Alosa.
Bonner is a strong forward who plays with relentless energy on both ends of the court. He scores most of his points in the low post and doesn't mind doing the dirty work associated with all valuable big men on any level. "West Virginia wants to use him at the four and five positions," said Mr. Bonner, referring to the power forward and center slots. "He's excited about going there."
