Blue finds fit in Big East

Five-star prospect Vander Blue of Madison (Wisc.) Memorial High School wanted to stay close to home and found his fit in the Big East.
At one time committed to Wisconsin, Blue is instead now headed to Marquette after a weekend visit for the opening of practice.

"Coach Williams is a big reason I'm going to Marquette," said Blue, a 6-foot-3, 180-pound point guard. "They are in the Big East Conference and I can stay right in my hometown. I knew in my heart Marquette is where I want to be.
"I have a lot of family Milwaukee, and they will be able to watch me play."
The strength of the Big East and the opportunity to compete at the highest level was also a major draw for Blue.
"When you play against Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Georgetown and schools like that on a regular basis and be able to stay close to home, you can't go wrong," he said. "With me being a competitor that is the conference that is best preparing players for the NBA."
Blue, who is the No. 22-ranked prospect in the Rivals150, had narrowed his choices down to Marquette and Wisconsin.
He joins four-star prospect Jamail Jones and Monterale Clark in the Marquette 2010 recruiting class.
