Blue Demons score combo guard

Very soon after getting the DePaul job, Oliver Purnell made it clear that he would prioritize kids with Chicago ties. Wednesday afternoon the Blue Demons landed their second player from local titan summer program the Mac Irvin Fire when Macari Brooks elected to stay home.
Brooks, from Richton Park (Ill.) Rich South, is a very athletic 6-foot-2 combo guard who thrives in an up and down system. The Blue Demons should press a lot under Purnell and that along with Brooks' comfort level with the staff led to a perfect fit.

"He loves the coaches there, he felt comfortable with them," said Brooks summer coach Nick Irvin on the Fire. "His style of play of getting up and down and pressing fits what they are going to do."
A three-star prospect, Brooks will join summer teammate (and fellow three star) Jamie Crockett at DePaul next season. More importantly, he'll get to live out his dream of playing in the Big East and he'll get to do it in front of all of his family and friends.
"He likes coach Purnell and he likes Billy Garrett and they did a great job of recruiting him," finished Irvin. "His dream was to play in the Big East and he gets to do it. Plus, he gets to play in front of all of his friends and family which is real important."
