Blanks Talks About His Decision

LaKeith Blanks, a 6-5 swingman/shooting guard from Laurinburg Prep in Laurinburg, N.C., committed after his official visit this past weekend. "I committed to Texas A&M last night after I spoke to my mother," Blanks said. "She said it was okay so I committed."
Blanks, who led D.C. Assault to the title of the American League division at the Charlie Weber Invitational Tournament in College Park, Md., told us he wanted to be a big part of a program. "They didn't do well in their conference last year," Blanks said.
"I feel I can help them out. The Big 12 is a great conference. We are going to make it at the tournament next year. They will probably make the tournament this year. I saw them practice. They have a good team too. Next year I am going to be a scorer. Along with Antoine (Wright) it's going to be a good fit at the two and three."
In addition to the Aggies, Memphis, Temple and George Washington had also expressed interest this fall in Blanks. George Washington and Texas A&M had offered, according to Blanks. "They have a lot of good players there at Texas A&M," Blanks said.
