The Roxbury, Mass. native just needs to maintain his current academic performance in order to be eligible as a freshman at Iowa State. Blalock signed with the Big 12 school in November after considering other programs such as Pittsburgh, DePaul, Ohio State, George Washington and Alabama.

Blalock, who previously attended East Boston High School, needed time in the early season to adjust to the new system as well to playing with Mississippi State-bound Gary Ervin. The roommates, both among RivalsHoops.com's top 50 in the class of 2003, have become dominating as they seem to clearly know each other's game. They usually hook up for at least one alley-oop per contest. Ervin, a New York native, has said he knows if he throws it in the neighborhood of the hoop, Will will go up and get it.
Blalock's friends and supporters are as proud of his academic progress as they are of his athletic achevements. At the end of the first marking period, he had the highest GPA in the school!
