Shamari Spears, a 6-foot-5, 240-pound bruiser from Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey, claimed MVP honors at the Boys Club Tournament in New York City.
Spears, only a sophomore at Blair, had 19 points in his team's 79-70 championship game win over Northfield Mount Hermon. Shamari is exceptionally agile for his size, and was a major handful on the low block with his agility and footwork, showing some polish offensively. Spears got a number of points on post moves and turnarounds, and was tough to handle on the glass. The wide-bodied Spears shows good mobility for his size, and can get up and down the floor well.
