Big Ten favorite for Roberson

Combo forward Lamar Roberson has had an eventful year including a decommitment to Louisville and stints at three different schools. Now that Roberson, 6-foot-7, 210-pounds from Los Angeles, Calif., has settled in at Mt. Zion Academy in Durham, N.C., he is putting up solid numbers on the court and making progress towards qualifying academically. Several college programs are pursuing Roberson, and one Big Ten school appears to be in the lead.
"Lamar is playing well," said Mt. Zion head coach Antonio Fozard. "He had 18 points in his last game and is averaging 14 points, 7 or 8 blocks, around 9 rebounds and around 3 steals per game.

"He also has his GPA in the core curriculum up. It is at a 2.3 right now and could possibly go higher."
Academically, Roberson still faces the hurdle of securing a qualifying test score. He plans to take the SAT on March 7.
Now that Louisville is out of the picture and no longer an option, a variety of other schools have entered the picture.
"Lamar is being recruited by LaSalle, Georgetown, Houston, Purdue, Providence, UNLV and Memphis," said Fozard. "Those are the ones that I have spoken to."
According to Roberson, LaSalle, Houston and Purdue have offered. And as it stands now, Purdue will get Roberson's first and maybe only visit this spring.
"Purdue is a big time program," said Roberson. "They are kind of down right now and need some good players to get the program back where it was. It could be a good fit for me. I just want to visit and talk to the coaches and my family and then take it from there."
A rangy, athletic and versatile player, Roberson is spending most of his time on the court in the high post area for Mt. Zion.
"I don't really have a position," he said. "Coaches say I can play the one, two, three or four. We have a good point guard, so I don't have to play much point. Mainly I play in the high post and look to score and get my teammates involved."
