Big Month For 4-Star Prospect

It's a big month of July for outstanding physical talent Darryl Watkins, 6-11, and 220-pounds. Watkins has the potential to be a top 20 player but needs to establish more consistency in his offensive approach.
The Big East is all over Watkins with some interest from some other major conferences. But it will be hard to beat the schools in Watkins' New Jersey area.

The rising senior center from Paterson Catholic High School in New Jersey is still slated to play next season in his homestate.
There has been speculation that Watkins might jump from Paterson Catholic but sources who spoke to Darryl yesterday tell us that there are no plans for any leap from his New Jersey home to another school.
Watkins told us he was previously interested in Syracuse, Villanova, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Connecticut, Virginia, and St. John's. However, our sources indicate that Villanova, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Seton Hall are likely going to be toughest schools to outduel in this recruiting battle.
Watkins, who averaged 13 points and nine rebounds last season, has totally dominated on both ends of the court in some high school and AAU games. Watkins will again appear at the ABCD camp in July and play for Jimmy Salmon's T5T Playaz AAU program during the summer. Coaches will be keeping an eye on Watkins and see whether his consistency rises to a new level this July.
