Big man Pack-ing for Big South

Jon Pack, one of the hot names on the mid-major must-get list this spring, has found a place to call home next year. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound center from East Paulding (Ga.) High School is Big South bound.
Pack visited Coastal Carolina over the weekend and committed to Buzz Peterson and staff while on his visit to the Conway, S.C. school. Pack spoke highly of his budding relationship with Peterson and assistant coach Mike Boynton.

"One of the main things was the relationship with the coaches," Pack said. "Coach Boynton recruited me from the start and he's always said that they were there to support me no matter what…When we went out for dinner with them, they were all laughing and having a good team. You got the feeling that they were all being real."
The big man is an intriguing prospect because of his soft touch as a shooter and overall potential. Pack said he liked the vision the coaches had for his future.
"We are already talking about weight training and conditioning. I spoke with their strength coach and have an idea on what I'll be doing this summer to get bigger and stronger," Pack said.
A host of schools made a big push after the big man but the visit to Coastal Carolina was enough to seal the deal and ended what was sure to be a very busy spring recruitment.
"Getting it done now was a big deal," Pack said. "There was some pressure from a school or two to sign early (in the fall) but Coastal Carolina said they had one scholarship to give and that they would wait it out."
That patience paid off this weekend.
