Big Man May Have To Go JUCO

James Smith, a 6-10, 215 pound center from Nyack H.S. in Nyack, N.Y., caught the eyes of many during the recent New York State Sectional Playoffs.
Nyack Head Coach Gary Green told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that Manhattan, Canisius and Towson have spoken to him this winter regarding Smith.

Smith has enjoyed some big performances during the 2001-2002 basketball season. Last Monday against Lakeland H.S. in the Section 1, Class B semis, he turned in a 24 point, 14 rebound performance.
While he needs to get stronger and add muscle to his frame, Green said that Smith utilizes the drop stop effectively and has range all the way out to three point land.
Green added that Smith will probably need to attend junior college in order to get his academic requirements up to snuff with NCAA standards. While he is a student at Nyack, he also attends a satellite school affiliated with the high school.
