Big man Brown is high on priority list for big-time programs
There is a revival of sorts of the throwback center in the NBA this season but in the 2018 class, Moses Brown is the best at replicating the vintage 5-man.
A 7-foot center that may have added another inch this winter, Brown has yet to stop growing. Despite struggling some against stronger opponents around the basket, the Archbishop Molloy center has shown improved scoring abilities, unbelievable hands and touch around the bucket, to go along with his shot-changing skills in the lane.
Due to the dearth of quality big men, especially in the 2018 class, Brown’s recruitment has yet to settle down.
Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, UConn, Maryland, Kansas, Florida, Miami, Cal, Seton Hall, Arizona are among the teams recruiting Brown, he said.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
On his past few months: “I feel like this past summer was a breakout year and this season I feel like I can score with ease in the post. I feel like we can win the state championship.”
On Kentucky: “I feel like that is the type of school that can develop a lot of pros and you just go there, develop and then leave. I feel like it would be a great situation for me.”
Louisville: “They came by and saw me a couple of times. Coach sat me down and showed me some video. Coach (Rick) Pitino has actually contacted me a few times.”
Duke: “It is definitely a good school. Basically everyone in their program is a really good player. Duke is not all about basketball but more about academics, too. I like that about Duke.”
St. John’s: “They have been recruiting me since my freshman or sophomore year. They are just emphasizing with me to stay home and be the hometown hero.”
WHAT’S NEXT?
Brown's focus now is bringing home a state championship. Following a potential run in the playoffs, the 7-footer will run on the Under Armour circuit this spring with the New Heights travel program.
When it comes time for a commitment, things are still a bit far off.
“Probably late senior year,” Brown said, adding he would come up with a list around August.
RIVALS’ REACTION
Brown can change any game thanks to his size, improved motor and his two-way abilities in the lane. However, the upside is tremendous with the New York native as his potential alone cements his case as a top-10 prospect in the 2018 class.
