Big East interest in Harvey

Running the point for a talent laden cast, Eugene Harvey led St. Benedict Prep from Newark, N.J. to a 26-1 record and a state championship. Harvey, 5-foot-11, 155-pounds, is the No. 43 ranked player in the class of 2006 and is getting plenty of Big East interest.
"My favorites are Pittsburgh, UConn, Louisville and Miami," said Harvey. "None have offered so far, but they are all showing interest. I'm still wide open and don't have a leader. I'm not sure when I'll take my visits. I need to sit down with my dad and discuss that."

A very good penetrator who can either finish or find teammates with the assist pass, Harvey would like to play in a system that allows him to constantly attack the basket.
"I'm looking for a place that plays my style and that's up tempo," he said. "I'll go anywhere as long as I feel comfortable with the environment."
The weaker aspect of Harvey's game is his outside shot, but it improved as the year progressed.
"I need to continue to work on my jump shot and my body," he said. "I've been in the weight room every day since the season ended."
Harvey averaged 15 points and 7 assists for his state championship team and is looking to make even a bigger splash with his play this summer.
