Big 12 teams add Texas guards

RANKINGS: Class of 2014 - 2015 - 2016 - 2017
So far, the 2015 recruiting cycle hasn't been an overly impressive one for the Big 12. Things were looking up a bit on Thursday as both Oklahoma and Baylor added shooting guard targets.

After missing out on in-state target Shake Milton a little over a week ago, the Sooners bounced back nicely on Thursday when they received a commitment from Rivals150 shooting guard Christian James.
The No. 138 player in the country, James is a very athletic and well built 6-foot-4 two guard from Bellaire (Texas) High. His bread and butter is attacking the rim where he has the bounce and power to finish over and through much bigger players but he is also a very good defender and shows promise as a jump shooter.
James commitment came shortly after visiting Norman officially and it was clear the Sooners made a big impression.
"I would say it feels like a big family there, and I love the coaching staff and the players," James told RJ Young of Soonerscoop.com. "They just made me feel like I was a part of Oklahoma already."
The second Texan to join Oklahoma's three man recruiting class for 2015, James joins versatile wing, and fellow Texas product, Rashard Odomes and four-star junior college big man Akolda Manyang.
While the Sooners added piece number three, Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears were adding their fourth recruit as three-star shooting guard Wendell Mitchell made a commitment.
From nearby Rockdale (Texas) High, Mitchell made a name for himself as a scorer playing on the grassroots circuit with the Houston Defenders. He is a dangerous shooter from deep, has good quickness and handles the ball well enough that he may be able to help some at the point guard position down the road.
Perhaps a bit generously listed at 6-foot-3, Mitchell is a sneaky athlete and mostly needs to add strength in preparation for Big 12 play.
With Mitchell in the fold, the Bears now have four commitments from the class of 2015. Mitchell joins four-star shooting guard King McClure, three-star combo guard Jake Lindsey and three-star junior college big man Joseph Acuil.
