Big 12 offer for 2006 Mason

Justin Mason, the 2006 teammate of Oklahoma signee Austin Johnson at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, has picked up his first offer from a Big 12 school. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound shooting guard is a tough, athletic and solid all around player who will certainly pick up more offers in the days to come.
"Texas Tech has offered Justin," said Mason's AAU coach Rodney Johnson of Dallas Pump N Run. "He is also hearing from Oklahoma, North Texas, SMU and Arizona State that I know of."

Mason specializes in both defending the basketball and getting the basketball to the basket.
"I believe he's just like Marquez Haynes [2005 Boston College signee]," said Johnson. "He goes strong to the basket, has a solid outside shot and defends really well. He's very strong when he gets into the lane. Justin is just a winner.
"He needs to continue to improve his outside shot and be more consistent. He also needs to work on pulling up for the short jumper instead of always trying to get all the way to the rim."
Coach Johnson feels confident that Mason will improve his shooting because of his solid work ethic.
"He's a very well mannered and disciplined kid," said Johnson. "Justin works hard in the weight room."
