Mitchell Beauford, a 5-11, 185 pound point guard from Brooklyn's Christ the King High School said he has a top list of four schools.
"I like West Virginia, Virginia, Mississippi State and UConn," Beauford said at last week's Triple S Harley Davidson Charlie Weber Invitational at West Virginia University. Other schools that have been recruiting Bauford include Boston College, Drexel, Fairfield, Gonzaga, Hartford, Holy Cross, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Rider, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. Peter's, Syracuse and Villanova. "I don't expect to make an early decision," he said. "Probably will give the recruiting process more time."

Beauford was one of five Long Island Roadrunners in double figures with 13 points in the New York team's 92-65 win over the New Jersey Wildcats Elite at WVU's Recreation Center (a facility with seven basketball courts with more room for students to exercise, play, etc.). He averaged 14.3 points this past season but beefed up his scoring average to 19.0 points in the CHSAA playoffs.
An exceptional athlete, Beauford possesses excellent body control who excels at scoring in traffic. He has a knack for hanging in traffic and converting and is equipped with great leaping ability and body control. He has a reliable shot from mid-range on out. "I'm working to improve my handle this summer," he added.
Earlier Beauford told reporter Brian Towey that he is carrying a 3.3 GPA and scored 840 on the PSAT. He said he'll take the SAT this fall. Beauford plans to major in the computer sciences.
Beauford, who also plays with the Brooklyn Queens aka Sonday Express, is scheduled for this week's Las Vegas Big Time Tournament.
