Beasley leads West to victory

LOUISVILLE- East guard O.J. Mayo struggled to find a good shot all night long until he finally got a clean look from behind the arc in the final seconds of the game. The shot didn't fall and the West won 114-112 behind the MVP performance of Michael Beasley.
Beasley tallied a game high 23 points and a game high 12 rebounds to spark the West.

"I was just showing the world what Rivals.com has thought of me," said Rivals.com's No. 1 ranked player Michael Beasley about winning the MVP. "I really just wanted to get the win, but I'm also grateful that winning the MVP came true."
Taking a game high 17 shots from the field, Mayo could only connect on four attempts, scoring 12 points on the night. Just the day before Mayo had put up an unofficial 33 points in a scrimmage between the two teams.
"We didn't take the scrimmage too seriously," said Eric Gordon. "The intensity was a lot better tonight. Scoring is a big thing, but slowing down a guy like that is a big part of winning. We tried to slow him down because we knew he was the type of scorer who could have a big game."
J.J. Hickson lead the East in scoring with 14 points while Gani Lawal tied Beasley with a game high 12 rebounds. Derrick Rose led the West with five assists while Nick Calathes and Jonny Flynn both passed out six assists. Cole Aldrich had a game high four blocks, and Patrick Patterson led the East with three blocks.
