In November of last year Arizona picked up one of the gems in the 2007 class when Phoenix, Ariz., combo guard Jerryd Bayless committed to the Wildcats in November. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Bayless has now decided to step back and take another look at his recruitment.

Last Thursday Bayless had a significant conversation with the Arizona coaching staff. After an unexpected and unfortunately delay, Bayless has broken down his situation for Rivals.com.
"On Thursday I told the Arizona staff that I'm stepping back, but I haven't officially decomitted yet," said Bayless. "I'm just taking some time to look at things for college with academics, basketball and life after basketball.
"Even though I'm still committed, I just want to look around because I might have rushed into this."
Although this story has just recently made its way into the media, Bayless' desire to explore his options is not a sudden decision.
"I told my parents about a month ago that I was second guessing my decision, but no one is trying to get me to go to any certain school," he said. "There are a lot of rumors out there that people are trying to influence me to go to another school, and that is just not true.
"Next year I am going away from home to school and becoming a man. I represent myself, and my family helps and supports me. No one else represents me."
One thing Bayless is not looking for is a full return to the recruiting process.
If I'm interested in another school, I'll contact that school," he said. "I don't want to go through the recruiting process again."
When Bayless committed to Arizona in November, he chose them over Texas. He also considered Arizona State, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky and North Carolina during the process.
